Health for north east London is led by clinicians on behalf of seven primary care trusts (PCTs) in north east London:
- NHS Barking and Dagenham
- NHS City and Hackney
- NHS Havering
- NHS Newham
- NHS Redbridge
- NHS Tower Hamlets
- NHS Waltham Forest.
Local doctors, GPs, nurses, midwives and other health professionals from hospitals and PCTs across north east London have been actively involved in the leadership of the programme and the development of recommendations for the future.
We also work with NHS organisations, local councils, voluntary and community organisations, local involvement networks (LINKs), patient representatives, patients and the public in north east London and Essex.
Primary care trusts (PCTs)
The PCTs in north east London have a lead role in improving the health of local residents and are responsible for commissioning the health services provided by hospitals. They are responsible for deciding how NHS funding is spent locally and for monitoring and managing the quality of local services. They also work closely with local authorities to ensure that health services are well integrated with other services.
Acute trusts (hospitals) in north east London
The five acute trusts in north east London are actively involved in the Health for north east London programme:

Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospitals NHS Trusts (BHRUT). BHRUT has two hospital sites: King George, Ilford and Queen’s, Romford

Barts and the London NHS Trust. The trust has two hospital sites: St Bartholomew’s (Barts) in the City of London and The Royal London in Whitechapel

Newham University Hospital NHS Trust

Whipps Cross University Hospital NHS Trust.
Mental health trusts
Health for north east London works closely with the two mental health trusts in the area: North East London Foundation Trust (which broadly covers the same area as inner north east London) and East London Foundation Trust.
People's Platforms
Members of the public and Local Involvement Networks (LINks) were represented on People's Platforms for inner and outer north east London which provided advice to Health for north east London on behalf of patients and the public.
